The Old Bembang!

That Fun Filipino Portal - Old tagline

Bembang! is a Filipino portal. A portal is a site that the owner positions as an entrance to other sites on the internet; "a portal typically has search engines and free email and chat rooms etc." The Bembang! portal is 60% complete as of now. The main function of the Bembang! Portal is to provide pure Filipino search results via it's search engine. The search engine is complete and we are adding more sites to be indexed everyday. We also have a Web Directory of Filipino sites and a Forum.

The site was launched on November, 2003. On March 2004, Bembang! launched it's first issue. From then on, Bembang! will be updated every month and will focus on being an online magazine (electonic zine or ezine). The directory, search engine, mail and all the other services will still be there but the front page will always reflect the current issue of the magazine.

The New Bembang!

Since the launch of Issue 02, Bembang! has primarily been an online magazine. Bembang! as a web portal will now only be secondary to it being an online publication. Bembang! will launch a new issue every 2 months.

What does "bembang" mean?

The word "bembang" is a Filipino "slang" word that means... bembang! :)

In our context, the case is different. We use "bembang" to describe a certain number of feelings and emotions. We also use "bembang" to describe people. The use of "bembang" to describe men or women is in no way offensive and only synonymous to the words - "hot", "chick", "hunk", "wow!", "handsome", "gorgeous", "cool", etc.
