What was the name of your very first band? What kind of music did you play?
my 1st band was called geek and the girls. i formed a band with two female friends and we were lisa germano's "geek the girl" when we thought of the name. we did covers of the indigo girls and disbanded right after haha.
Sino sa inyo ang diabetic? Sino pinakamahilig sa sweets?
nobody. but jal's mom is. all three of us love to eat so it doesnt matter if it's sweet or sour =)
How old is Sugar Free?
5 years and one month as we speak =)
How long did you through the "struggling musician" phase?
i think we're still struggling haha. well, i think that since we released sa wakas, everything's been going great.
Have you done any gigs abroad?
no. i don't have a visa and no one's really invited us yet.
Do you remember the very first person who asked for your autograph? Guy or girl? How did it feel?
an old guy at mayrics asked for my autograph four years ago. he was a seaman and back for a couple months. he was also very drunk.
Ebe: How many guitars do you own? What models? How many effects do you use live? What models?
i have three guitars. a fender us telecaster, an epiphone les paul, and an epiphone acoustic guitar. right now, i usea boss delay and a boss turbo overdrive during gigs.
What was the very first song written by Sugar Free?
the first song i wrote that was included in any of our albums is hintay. i made it almost eight years ago. telepono, i wrote the next day. so it's not really fun playing those songs anymore.
When writing songs, do you write the lyrics or the music first?
kelangan sabay. that's a disadvantage. i'm not as prolific as ogie alcasid, or mikey of ciudad, who can write songs at will. sa akin, melody and lyrics come hand in hand.
Who is the hottest local celebrity?
i hope i don't get into trouble hahaha. i think pia guanio, patty laurel, aubrey miles, and the girl i'm in love with are hoooooooooooooooooottttttttttttttttttttttt!
Do you think you affected Mariposa's customer base? How much is the "quickie" rate at Mariposa? How about overnight?
haha people often joke that mariposa should be paying me for making them famous. e matagal naman nang sikat mga yan, ako wala pa rin. dunno about the quickie and overnight rates. seriously, i don't.
Sino idol ninyo in terms of songwriting? Local artists only
ely buendia, rico blanco and dong abay. pero sa current crop, i think gabby alipe of urbandub, mikey of ciudad, and jazz of the itchyworms/boldstar are very, very, very talented.

Anong ibang racket nyo besides the band?
mitch has a dayjob, jal has all sorts of things on the side, and i play for cambio (banda pa rin, kaya walang nangyayari sa akin e)
The best/most memorable concert na napuntahan nyo? Foreign artists who visited the Philippines.
i've only been to one. hall and oates, when i was in third year high. i've always liked them and i had a really good time looking at them from 200 feet.
What was the philosophy behind the 2nd album? What were you trying to achieve?
we were trying to outdo ourselves, and hopefully, we succeeded. there was never a conscious philosophy towards the album. i'm in a kinda happy state right now and the songs reflect my giddiness.
Was Rico Blanco really a part of Sugar Free before? Or was that a different band?
he was for a while.
Were there any experiences before where the band nearly called it "quits"?
i wanted to quit like a million times. buti na lang jal pulled me back in. i'll always owe him for that.
Taga-san kayo? North? South? The general area at least.
i was born in ilagan, isabela, but my family now lives in the mean streets of qc.

Nakatugtog ba ang Sugar Free sa Club Dredd? Kung hindi, yung mga lumang banda nyo?
my college band, jinx, played there lotsa times. sugarfree was born a couple of years after dredd closed down.

magaling ako dahil 5'4 ako. teka, di ako magaling mag basketball.
Bakit Dramachine? Drum machine or Drama scene?
dramasyin chong =) maganda pakinggan e, idea yun nila raimund marasigan at diego mapa.
